Minisink Swim and Racquet Club
Rules and Regulations
The Management Staff of the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club reserves the right to adopt additional or supplemental rules as needed. All rules will be posted throughout the pool facility and strictly enforced at all times.
All members and their guests must conform to these rules and regulations. Members and their guests must also follow pool staff instructions and requests. Any misunderstandings or objections should be brought to the attention of the management staff immediately. Interpretation and enforcement of all rules shall be at the discretion of the pool management staff.
The “pool area,” for the purpose of these rules, means the fenced-in area enclosing the pool facility, the locker room and changing area, and the parking area.
All persons using the pool facilities do so at their own risk. The Minisink Swim and Racquet Club will not be responsible for any accident or injury or loss of personal property.
Members or guests who damage, misuse, or abuse pool property or other property on pool premises will be liable for the cost of the damage involved and may be subject to permanent suspension from the pool and/or criminal prosecution.
Pool Management may close all or any portion of the pool facility at any time for necessary reasons including, but not limited to: inclement weather, swim meets, social functions, or for reasons of health and safety of the members and staff at the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club.
Only trained and certified service animals are permitted at the facility. No other animals are permitted on premises.
Members cannot be on the pool deck or grass picnic areas prior to the weekday pool opening.
Each member must sign in at the Front Desk upon entering the facility.
No one will be admitted without: a) a verified active membership; or b) being accompanied by an appropriately-aged, active member who has registered said person as their guest for the day (member must accompany them for the entire visit).
Members are allowed to bring guests into the pool. Guest passes can be purchased through the front desk and are only valid during the course of the current pool season.
A guest is considered any individual who is entering the facility that is not a member. All guests will be charged the following rates:
Adult (13 years +): $10
Child (12 years and younger): $8
Nanny Badge: $150
Guests are considered members of the pool for the day and are expected to follow all facility rules and regulations.
Failure of a guest to follow the rules set by the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club Management may result in removal from the facility without refund. Guests who fail to follow facility rules may be permanently suspended from the pool facility. Members who bring such guests to the facility may lose the privilege of bringing guests into the facility for the remainder of the season.
Teen members may not bring any guests to the pool without a parent or guardian present.
Nanny and Mother’s Helper Memberships do not qualify to bring guests into the pool.
Guest passes expire at the conclusion of the season. Guest passes do not roll over to the next pool season.
Health, Hygiene, and Facility Safety
Use of the main pool shall be limited to children who are fully toilet trained and are accompanied by an adult. All children who are not fully toilet trained are limited to the baby pool and must wear disposable swim diapers in additional to a bathing suit.
Pool shoes are not permitted in any pool at any time. If deemed necessary via medical note, approved pool shoes may be used only in the pool and not for walking around the facility.
Any person showing evidence of skin disease, sore inflamed eyes, colds, cough, anal or ear discharge, or any communicable disease, excessive sunburn, open blisters, cuts or bandages, may be refused admission to the pool area. Individuals who have experienced episodes of diarrhea and/or vomiting should refrain from entering the pool for at least 48 hours since their latest episode to protect the general population.
The Minisink Swim and Racquet Club is a smoke-free facility. Smoking or use of electronic cigarettes or smoking devices is not permitted on the grounds. Failure to adhere to this requirement will result in suspension of membership with no refund.
It is recommended that all members rinse in a shower before entering the pool. It is mandatory to rinse in a shower if a member was using the basketball, tennis, or paddle areas of the facility.
Appropriate swim attire must be worn at all times while in the pool. Non-swimwear is not permitted in the pool at any time. Additionally, swimwear must appropriately cover swimmers, so as to maintain a family friendly environment. Failure to adhere to this policy will result in suspension of the membership.
All changing of clothing must occur in the appropriate locker rooms. Changing diapers or bathing suits may not occur on the deck area of the pool.
Swimmers are only permitted to enter the facility when lifeguards are on duty. Members must refrain from conversation with lifeguards on duty. During pool hours all questions should be directed towards Pool Management and not directed to lifeguards.
Diving is only permitted off the diving boards in the Dive Tank. No diving is permitted in the main pool or baby pool during general free swim sessions. The only exception to this will be during swim lessons, swim team practices, and swim meets under the direct supervision of coaches and instructors.
The Dive Tank is for diving board use only. One person is limited to each diving board at a time. Pool Management may close the Dive Tank as necessary (i.e.: Swim Evaluations, Swim Meets, low daily attendance, etc)
There will be no jumping into the pool on side of the pool nearest to the pool house. The other areas of the pool, with the exception of the slide area, will permit jumping in feet first. The Pool Management may make exceptions to this rule with a designated area of the pool and specific time frame where swimmers may be allowed to jump in other areas.
No inflatable toys and/or water paraphernalia will be permitted in the pool area. Pool Management may designate a time when swimmers may use balls and other water play items. It is at the management’s discretion to determine inappropriate use of water toys during this time.
Any toy used in the pool, including water balls or noodles, must be approved by the pool manager. Only soft-based water balls will be permitted. Tennis balls, land basketballs, and footballs are not permitted.
Floaties or inflatable floatation devices of any type are prohibited in the main pool and diving tank. Only Coast Guard Certified life jackets are allowed in the main pool. There must be an embossed label inside of the vest for it to be allowed in the main pool, and a parent must be within arm’s reach of the child at all times. At the pool staff’s discretion, any swimmer may be required to be accompanied by an adult.
Parents at the tennis courts are not considered to be accompanying children under 12 in the pool area.
If a child does not reach his/her 13th Birthday during the current pool season, the child will NOT be permitted on club property unless supervised by an adult or a responsible caregiver who is.
Running, pushing, towel snapping, profane language, horseplay, or other dangerous behaviors are prohibited.
The Baby Pool is for children under the age of 6.
The Slide is for swimmers who have earned a green bracelet. One swimmer is permitted to ride the slide at a time and all swimmers must enter the water feet first.
The Lap Lanes are designated for lap swimmers only. Those who are not swimming laps may not enter or cross through the Lap Lanes. Specific times may be designated by the management for “Adult Lap Swim” only. Swimmers swimming laps will be expected to share lanes and “circle swim” or split lanes whenever applicable. Saving or reserving lanes is not permitted at any point.
Deep Water Test
All swimmers ages 10 and younger are REQUIRED to take an annual swim evaluation administered by the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club Management. Swimmers will be evaluated based on their current swimming abilities. The test is required, even for swimmers who took a swim test in previous seasons. Swim Bracelets will be distributed to swimmers ages 3-10 based on current swimming ability, not age. Safety is the top priority of the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club Staff and Swim Bracelets will be given based on current swimming ability.
All swimmers ages 10 and under must complete a swim evaluation, or “Deep Water er who decline to take the Deep Water Test will be limited to the shallow end of the pool.
Swimmers will be asked to demonstrate their swimming abilities and stamina during the Deep Water Test that will consist of the following requirements:

Part 1 Swimming Skills
Swim length of the main pool on front continuously (25 meters, maintaining horizontal body position)
Swimmer may be asked to touch the bottom of the pool in the yellow area
Swimmer may be asked to swim 5 meters (to the swim flags) on their back (maintaining horizontal body position)
Part 2 Treading Skills
Tread water for 1 minute. Swimmer must:
remain in one position
maintain head above water
should not be fatigued at the conclusion of the treading
Swimmer may be asked to display swimming skills under water (submerge feet first and return to wall or ladder safely)
5. The Swim Bracelet denotes the following:

Green: Proficient swimmer that successfully passes Parts 1 and 2 of the Swim Evaluation
Swimmer must demonstrate proficiency in front crawl for one (1) full length of the main pool.
Swimmer must be able to tread water for a minute
Stamina and efficient body motion must be demonstrated through duration of evaluation
No Bracelet: Non-swimmer
May require flotation and is limited to the shallow end of the pool unless accompanied by an adult
Swimmer did not successfully display the necessary skills to complete the Deep Water Test
Swimmer MUST remain in the shallow end of the pool
Swimmer MUST be within arms reach of a parent and/or guardian
If swimmer is wearing floatation, they must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the pool at all times.
6. Swimmers who do not successfully complete the Deep Water Test are limited to the Shallow End of the Main Pool. Parents must be at the waters edge at all times. Swimmers requiring floatation must be accompanied by a parent / guardian in the pool at all times.
7. Swimmers who earn a Green Bracelet are permitted to use the main pool and dive tank facility.
8. The Minisink Deep Water Test will be administered daily upon request (depending on staffing / availability) by a Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard.
9. Swimmers can re-take the Deep Water Test no more than once per week. All decisions regarding Deep Water Test are at the discretion of the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club management and are not subject to question. All swimmers will receive an Evaluation Sheet that indicates their current level, areas of improvement, and recommended Swim Instruction Level.
Baby Pool Rules
A parent or responsible caregiver must supervise children using the Baby Pool at all times.
All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible caregiver in the water, or within arm’s reach at all times.
Use of the Baby Pool shall be limited to children under 6 years of age.
Any child still in diapers or not completely or reliably toilet trained MUST wear rubber pants while in the Baby Pool. Diapered and/or untrained children are not permitted in the Main Pool or Diving Tank.
The Baby Pool may only be used when a lifeguard is on duty.
The gate to the Baby Pool must remain closed.
Jumping and/or diving is not permitted in the Baby Pool.
Dive Tank Rules
Only swimmers who earn a Green Bracelet and successfully complete the Deep Water Test are allowed to use the Diving Boards.
The Diving Tank must be clear before diving.
Dives that propel a person towards the board are prohibited.
Only one bounce is allowed on the board.
No one is permitted in the Dive Tank to “catch” a person going off the board.
Any flips, dives or jumps must be forward-facing and away from the diving boards. No backflips, jumps, or dives that are angled towards the side or back of the board are permitted.
No throwing or attempting to catch items (pool toys, noodles, balls) is not permitted in the Dive Tank or from the diving boards.
In the event of “Free Swim” in the diving tank, no floatation devices are permitted. Only swimmers who have earned a Green Bracelet on the Deep Water Test will be permitted to participate in “Free Swim” in the dive tank.
Only swim team members or swim lesson participants are permitted to be in the pool area prior to club opening. Reserving a spot prior to clubs opening is also prohibited.
No glassware is permitted in the club at any point. Any beverages must be transferred into plastic cups.
Prepared foods such as salads, sandwiches and pizza should be consumed on the patio or in the picnic areas. Members are responsible for cleaning any litter from their personal use. No gum chewing is allowed in the pool area.
No skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, or “Heely Shoes” are permitted in the pool area at any time.
Minisink Swim and Racquet Club Parking Lots are only available for Minisink Members. All vehicles MUST be parked in the designated parking area.
Music devices are only allowed with headphones. Speakers or other devices that play music out loud for others to hear is not permitted.
Use of the facility showers / changing facility must be limited to a reasonable amount of time.
Kickboards are to be used only by the swimming instructor and swim team.
Snorkels, Flippers, Fins, Mermaid-style fins and other similar devices will not be permitted in the main pool. Flippers may be used by adults (18+) in the lap lanes only.
Members’ personal equipment (swimming boards, flippers, goggles, beach chairs, etc.) shall not be stored or left at the Minisink Facility for any reason. Items left behind are not the responsibility of the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club Management and are subject to disposal or donation to a charitable organization.
We allow members to host private parties, gatherings, and other events with pre-approval. To ensure we are able to adequately able to staff the event, please provide 14 days notice. Email Alyssa Guider at firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
Party reservations will not be permitted on Friday or Saturday after 4:00 PM or anytime on Sundays or Holidays.
Parties must conclude by 8:00 PM (7:30 PM during August) and have a limit of 3 hours and a maximum of 30 guests. The charge for guests will be:
$6 per child (12 and younger)
$8 per adult
Minisink Club Refund and Credit Policy
All clinics, camps, programs, and team registrations are not eligible for a refund once the designated session begins.
Members are expected to only register for programs/clinics/teams in which they intend to participate. A credit may be issued up until 24 hours prior to the start of the first session.
In the event of inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances, a credit will be posted to the member’s account. A refund will only be available if a program did not operate due to weather or for program cancellations.
By accepting your membership, you as the applicant, as well as others you list on your application, or any guest you bring to the facility, agree to release and hold harmless the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club from any injuries resulting from the use of pool facilities. The applicant and all those listed on their application further agree to comply fully with the rules of the Minisink Swim and Racquet Club, and to be responsible for (and ensure the compliance of) any guest they bring to the facility, with penalties for non-compliance ranging from member restrictions to full membership revocation.
