General Club Information
 
Tennis & Paddle Hours
The courts will be open for play at 9:00 A.M. Members wishing to play before 9:00 A.M. will be permitted on a first-come, first-serve basis if maintenance has been completed.  Players may be asked to change courts to facilitate maintenance procedures.
 
Snack Bar
Hours of operation 11:30-7:00, but are subject to change due to weather or pool events.

Guest Fees (for entire day)
All guests must be signed in at the front desk. Guest bracelets must be worn by all non-members.  
 
 When pool is open, includes pool & courts:
Weekdays:  $8/adult
  $6/child, ages 2-12
Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays:  $8/adult
  $6/child, ages 2-12
When pool is closed, includes courts (paddle or tennis) only:
Weekdays:   $5/person
  Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays:  $5/person
 
 
Picnic Area

Members are welcome to use the grills and picnic tables for barbecues.  The shed in the picnic area contains charcoal, lighter fluid, matches and limited utensils. Tableclothes may be checked out at the office. Please wash the table cloths after use and check them back into the office. A replacement charge will be billed to your account if not returned.


Social Activities Information

 
The following social events are planned for the
summer season, so mark your calendars now!  These events are a great way to meet new friends and to catch up with old friends.  Volunteering to help an hour or two is a tremendous help and allows us to keep having terrific events!  We can use extra help at each event, call Megan Kelly at 973-701-2880 or e-mail mkelly@springfieldschools.com. All social events will be posted and advertised at the Club. Please check the bulletin board near the entrance. Reminders of uncoming events are commonly emailed, but please check the Membership Directory as well as the bulletin board for dates.

Youth Activities Information
 
Activities will be scheduled for children of all ages.  Such activities may include crafts, organized water or land based games, theme events, bingo challenges, capture the flag and much more. Minimum fees may be required depending on the activity to cover the costs of supplies. Program details will be in the Minisink Voice newsletter and posted daily at the pool office. Participation may be limited so please arrive on time.  Parents/guardians must be present at the club during such activities.  Please contact the front desk if you have questions. 
 

 

Club Rules


Our Club Policies and Regulations are for the protection and benefit of all members.  Parents are requested to caution their children to observe these policies and to obey the instructions of the Club Manager and other staff members.  Members are required to follow all Regulations of the Club printed here as well as those posted throughout the Club.
 
Failure to comply with the policies may be cause for disciplinary action including the suspension of
Club privileges.
 
1. Club Use

 
Use of the facilities shall be restricted to Club members in good standing, their families, and properly invited guests. (A family is defined in the by-laws as "all members of the immediate family, children age 25 and under, residing in one household and having this residence as their permanent legal address.")
 
2. Health and Safety

General
 
A.  A child under 12 years old must AT ALL TIMES be accompanied by a parent or a responsible babysitter. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult after 6:00 p.m. (see M. under Swimming Pool and Diving Tank Areas.)
 
B.  The Club will not be responsible for loss or damage to
      personal property.
 
C.  Pets are not permitted on the Club grounds.
 
D.  Radios and tape players will be permitted only with the
use of earphones.
 
E.   Changing diapers is not allowed in any area other than the dressing rooms.  Please do not change    diapers in the baby pool  area.


Swimming Pool & Diving Tank Areas

A. All members and guests MUST check in at the front desk prior to utilizing the pool facilities.

B. Use of the swimming pool is limited to the hours speci fied in the general information section. Children under the age of six (6) must have parental supervision for access to the main pool & diving tank. It is mandatory for children using floaties or non-swimmers to have a parent accompany them in the main pool. Floaties are not allowed in the diving tank. At the pool staff’s discretion, any swimmer may be required to be accompanied by an adult. Members cannot be on the pool deck or grass picnic areas prior to the weekday pool opening. Only swim team members or swim lesson participants are permitted to be in the pool area prior to opening.

C. No glassware is permitted in the pool area. Beverages must be poured into a plastic cup.

D. Prepared foods such as salads, sandwiches, and pizza should be consumed on the patio or in the picnic areas. Members are responsible for cleaning any litter from their personal use. No gum chewing is allowed in the pool area.

E. Showers should be kept to a reasonable length of time (3-5 minutes).

F. All swimmers are required to wear proper bathing attire in the pool. Cut‑off shorts or pants are not permitted.

G. There shall be NO running, pushing, wrestling, ballplaying, or undue disturbance in or around the pool area. Diving is not permitted in the swimming or wading pool.

H. Admission to the pool shall be refused to anyone with major skin abrasions, colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, or infections. The Club Manager/Head Lifeguard is responsible for these decisions.

I. Any toy used in the pool, including balls, noodles and rafts must be approved by the Manager/Head Life guard.

J. Flotation devices, including tubes, must not be used in the pool without the approval of the Club Manager/Head Lifeguard.

K. Kickboards are to be used only by the swimming instructor and swim team.

L. Use of the baby pool shall be limited to children under 6 years of age. Any child still in diapers or not completely or reliably potty trained MUST wear rubber pants while in the baby pool. Parents are asked to act responsibly in this matter. Cloth swim diapers, disposable swim diapers, or suits with built in swim diapers are not acceptable without the use of rubber pants. Rubber pants may be purchased at the front desk. Diapered and/or untrained children are not permitted in the main pool or diving tank. Children using the baby pool should be supervised by a parent or a responsible teenage babysitter.

M. Children who will not reach their 12th birthday anytime during the pool season will NOT be permitted on club property unless supervised by an adult or a responsible teenage babysitter who is capable of controlling the child’s actions.

N. Parents at the tennis courts are not considered to be accompanying children under 12 in the pool area.

O. Only one person is allowed on the diving board and ladder at a time. No one is allowed to dive until the previous diver has exited from the tank or has reached the ladder. Back dives and flips will not be permitted off the side walls. Complete diving rules will be posted.

P. Complete slide rules will be posted by the slide.

Q. Free swims will be permitted in the diving tanks during Adult swim times.

R. Lifeguards on duty must not converse with members.

S. No swimming or diving will be permitted prior to, during, or immediately after an electrical storm.

T. Clear the pool immediately when the three-whistle signal is sounded. Stay away from emergency locations.

U. Be alert to anyone in trouble. Call for help and then go to their aid immediately. Do not remove an injured person from the water; wait for lifeguard assistance.

 

Tennis
A.        Players must wear proper tennis attire.
            1. Shirts must have collars. No t‑shirts are allowed.
            
2. Tennis shorts must have pockets. No cut‑off jeans, gym shorts, or bathing suits permitted.
           
3. Tennis shoes with flat soles must be worn during play. Running and other hard sole shoes with edges are not allowed as they damage the courts.
           
4. All junior tennis team players must wear white shorts and white shirts for home and away matches.
 
B.         The upper courts, # 1‑4, can be reserved for playing periods of one and a half hours, through the online reservation system, the link can be found in the Tennis & Paddle section.  Players arriving ten minutes late forfeit their reservations. If you are unable to use the time period that you have signed up for, you must cancel your reservation online. Consistent failure to remove your name will result in forfeiture of playing privileges for two weeks.  Preference on the upper courts will be given to adults (18 and older) on weekends, holidays, and weekday evenings after 6 p.m. Players 17 and under must relinquish these courts during those times, unless special permission is granted by the Court Operations  Trustee due to extenuating circumstances.
 
C.         The lower courts, # 5-8, can be reserved in the same manner (except as noted in Rules E & F.)  To use these courts, players must reserve a court using the online reservation system. The link is posted in the Tennis & Paddle section of the website. Play is limited to one and a half hours when others are waiting. If players neglect to sign up, they can be asked to relinquish their courts after 15 minutes.
 D
.         Court preference will be given to clinics, club tournaments & events, and interclub play. Court time for these events will be blocked off in the online reservation system.  Clinic usage will be limited to 3 courts when there is additional member demand.
 E
.         Men’s interclub matches will be played on courts 1-5 on Saturdays. Players previously signed up will have to relinquish their time. Interclub matches usually are played between 9:00-11:00 a.m.
 
Women’s interclub matches are typically played on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the same tennis court policies governing men’s interclub will apply.
 F
.        Babies must be kept off the courts at all times.
 G
.        To facilitate a regular maintenance schedule, members should not turn off sprinklers or sweep puddles.
 H
.         For use of the tennis ball machine, see the Pro.
 I
.         The courts will be kept locked when not in use. Each member should have received a key to open the tennis gates.
 J
.        Tennis balls are available at the front desk of the Club for $5.00 per can.

 
Paddle

 A.        Rubber soled shoes must be worn at all times.
 B.         Courts may be reserved via the sign-up sheet for ninety minutes. Sign-up times may not be altered, and a reserved court is forfeited if players arrive ten minutes late. Prime time sign-ups are limited to three per week; prime time is defined as evenings, Saturday morning and all day Sunday.
 
C.         Court reservations must be made in person by the individuals who plan to use the courts.
 
D.        A foursome may not sign up for two consecutive time periods.
 
E.         Please do not indiscriminately sign up if you do not have a game. Also, as a courtesy to others, please remove your name from the sign-up sheet if your game has been cancelled.
 
F.         Preference will be given to adults on weekends, holidays and evenings. Players 17 and under must relinquish the courts to adults during those times, unless playing with an adult. When there are special conditions which preclude a junior playing during weekends, he/she may make special arrangements with the Court Operations Trustee to play on weekends. Juniors have preference on Court # 1 Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m, except holidays.
 
G.        Courts may not be reserved in advance of the weekly posting of the sign-up sheet.  Exception: New Year’s Eve and private parties which can be reserved one month in advance through the Court Operations Trustee.     
 
H.        The last players must turn out all lights and lock the paddle hut.
 I.         Paddle balls are available at the club for $10.00 per sleeve of 3 balls.
 J.         Paddle League matches (Men’s & Women’s) will have priority access to all 3 courts: 
  •    Saturday mornings (8:30am) for Men
  •    Tuesday mornings (9:30am) for Women.
Court times for these events will be blocked off on the sign-up sheets at the Sunday morning posting. 
In the event of inclement weather, the captains will be responsible for scheduling the match times according to NJMPTA (Rule#1-within 10 days) & NJWPTL (Rule#9-Weds, or Thurs.) rules.
Use of three courts does not include practice or lessons with a pro.
Casual play after the competitive match will only be allowed if a club member is not waiting for court access. 
       

 Guests


 A.        A guest privilege consists of admission to the pool and courts at regular guest fees.
 B.         ALL guests must be properly registered at the Club office prior to the use of any Club facility.  This includes tennis and paddle guests, who must be registered prior to the start of play.  In the event that the office is not open, guests must be registered on the sign-up sheets at the courts.  Please register guests at the front office before entering the courts.
 C.         Members under 16 shall be able to invite guests provided that the  attendance at the Club conforms with all Club policies.
 
D.        Guests must always be accompanied by sponsoring members.
 
E.         Each family Membership shall be allowed ten (10) guest privileges per season for guests residing within Chatham Borough or Township,  and fifteen (15) guest privileges per season for guests residing outside the Borough or Township.  No one individual who resides within the Borough or Township may be a guest at the Club more than five (5) times during the season. (Example: If guest A is invited by member B once, and member C three times, it will count as four guest attendances for         guest A.)
 
F.         Members who are sponsoring new families for future membership are encouraged to bring them for a day at the Club as a "no charge" guest privilege. Be sure to register at the office so that this can be recorded on the membership list.
 
G.        Grandparents, or individuals 65 or older, may be guests without fee or charge against guest privileges, provided that they do not use the pool or tennis courts. These guests, however, must be registered at the Club office.
 
H.       Nanny/Babysitter Badges: 
            Annual Fee:   $100
 
I.         There is no charge for minor children residing for the summer or part of the summer in a member’s home participating in an exchange program.
 
J.         Other special cases involving guest privileges and/or special fees may be referred to the Club Manager.
 
      Party Information – Please call the Club Manager to reserve a date.  Parties of more than 20 guests must have Board approval.
             Note: some dates may not be available.
 
Birthday parties: (parties must conclude by 8:00 pm)
           
            12 yrs. and under – $6/child
                                         (Limit 3 hours, Max. 20 guests)
            Over 12 yrs. subject to regular guest rates         
                                         (Limit 3 hours, Max. 20 guests)
 
L.         Only members and their guests will be allowed to use   the tennis and paddle courts. A member with several guests will be limited to the use of one court.
 
M.       In view of our limited tennis and paddle court facilities, it is requested that guests be held to a minimum during prime time.
 
N.        Failure to comply with any of the guest policies outlined above will result in the suspension of guest privileges or loss of membership.

 
Traffic & Parking

 A.        The entrance to the Club grounds is located at the foot of Princeton Street. To encourage good community relations and to prevent increased traffic on lightly-traveled streets, members are requested to turn directly onto Princeton Street from No. Passaic Avenue, and to avoid using Harvard and Yale Streets.
 
B.         Due to limitations imposed on the Club by town regulations, University, Roosevelt and Wilson Avenues should NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be used as a route of access to the Club grounds.
 
C.         Since the approach to the Club is through a residential area, members are requested to observe Chatham speed laws and especially the STOP SIGNS at Princeton & North Hillside.  Please be particularly careful to watch for children riding bikes and local residents walking their dogs.
 
D.        Members should drive slowly and carefully on driveways and parking areas, and observe posted signs. Be especially aware of the NO PARKING zones by the Rt. 24 emergency access gate and on the curve where Princeton Street enters the Club driveway.
 
E.         Bike riders will use designated parking areas and observe rules of safe riding. It is strongly urged that all bicycles be LOCKED at the bike rack.
 F.
         Unregistered motor vehicles are not permitted on Club property. Unlicensed drivers are not permitted to operate motor vehicles on Club property.

Miscellaneous

 A.        All policies and regulations applying to General, Pool & Diving, Tennis, and Paddle usage of the Club will apply to the Club social functions and poolside parties. Any violations will be handled by the Board of Trustees.
 
B.         All equipment (games, benches, etc.) should be treated with care and respect and returned to the office or to their proper location. Damage due to improper use and neglect will be charged to the member’s account.
 
C.         Children under 14 may be asked to relinquish lounge chairs for adult use on high-attendance days at the Club.

  
             
Membership Policies and Procedures


 To maintain a strong membership at Minisink, we encourage all members to invite friends to learn more about the Club and to become members. We are always interested in adding residents of the Chathams to our waiting list. Sponsors may bring applicants to the Club to show them our outstanding facilities one time without a charge.
 
As vacancies occur, the Membership Trustee will chronologically process the oldest names on the waiting list. If you would like to know where someone stands on the list or request an application form, contact the Membership Trustee. 

 
Senior Citizen Membership

 
A member is eligible for a senior citizen membership if they or their spouse has reached sixty (60) years of age and has had five (5) continuous years of membership in good standing. This is not a family membership. Guest fees will apply to all but the bondholder and the spouse. Full club privileges apply. It is the member’s responsibility to apply for a senior citizen membership in writing to the Membership Trustee.  Senior citizen membership is limited to forty (40) members.  Thus, a waiting list, by application date, will be maintained by the Membership Trustee.
 
A member is eligible for Super Senior membership if they have reached the age of seventy-five (75) and has twenty (20) years of continuous membership in good standing.   This is not a family membership.  Guest fees will apply to all but the single member.  Full club privileges apply.  It is the member’s responsibility to apply for the Super Senior membership in writing to the Membership Trustee.  Super Senior membership is limited to ten (10) members.  
 

 
Season Rates

The Club year runs from October 1 through September 30.  Members wishing to resign must do so in writing.  Envelopes containing resignation letters must be postmarked by December 31 in order for members to receive a full refund of their bond and any prepaid dues. Resignations should be mailed to: The Minisink Club, P.O. Box 8, Chatham NJ 07928. Resigning members are responsible for all outstanding charges and all late fees.  Bonds are refunded net of any outstanding charges and late fees.  Bond refunds may also be reduced by resignation penalties as per the following schedule:

Annual dues are billed in full to all Members by October 1st.  Members are offered the option of paying dues in full or in two installments. If the installment option is chosen, the first payment
of one‑half the total dues plus any charges incurred during the season is payable no later than November 1st. The balance is due by April 1.  
A 10% penalty is applied if the payments) are late. In order to avoid any late penalty charge, the remittance envelopes must be postmarked by November 1 and April 1 respectively.
Members who have not paid in full as of May 1 will have their membership automatically terminated and the bond will be forfeited to cover the dues that are owed and any outstanding balance.  All other charges (balls, guest fees, etc.) must be paid within 30 days. A 1% penalty per month is charged on all other payments.
